Anisotropic: |
Has a preferred direction of magnetism (axis). Once magnetised the direction of magnetism cannot generally be changed. |
Isotropic: |
Can be magnetised in any direction since it has no preferred direction (axis) of magnetism. |
Northpole: |
Defined as the end of the magnet which seeks the geographical north pole (except in magnet therapy terminology - where the north pole attracts the 'north facing' needle of a compass i.e. seeks the geographical south pole). |
